Unreliable Volvo Lemon Law
Expert Lemon Law Attorneys for Unreliable Volvos
Experienced California lemon law attorneys help owners of unreliable Volvo vehicles
Swedish automaker Volvo celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2027. During its many years in business, the company has produced millions of cars, trucks, and buses worldwide, as well as construction equipment and engines for marine and industrial use.
These efforts have made Volvo a household name. Yet the brand’s reliability is often scored as “average.” Recent studies of the 2023 model year Volvos show that some models have lower-than-average reliability scores – making them more likely to become the subjects of lemon law claims.
If you have an unreliable Volvo on your hands, don’t wait. Contact an experienced California lemon vehicle lawyer today.
2023 Model Year Volvos With Low Reliability Scores
Two Volvo models made the U.S. News & World Report list of “The 11 Most Unreliable Cars in 2023”: The 2023 Volvo XC40 and the 2023 Volvo XC60.
Unreliable 2023 Volvo XC40
With an MSRP of $38,350, the Volvo XC40 tied with the 2023 Toyota Tundra, scoring a 70/100. Its 70/100 score makes the XC40 “average” in predicted reliability, according to US News & World Report.
The Volvo XC40 is a subcompact SUV offering several luxury features. US News & World Report praised the vehicle’s comfort, passenger space, and various features. However, the magazine noted that the vehicle’s onboard infotainment system is “tricky to operate” and that materials used to finish the vehicle’s interior “miss the mark.”
US News & World Report also noted that competing vehicles from other brands offer better handling, agility, and ride quality.
Unreliable 2023 Volvo XC60
US News & World Report gave the 2023 Volvo XC60 a predicted reliability score of 62/100, making it the fourth least reliable vehicle in the outlet’s tests. The XC60 scores lower than the XC40 despite boasting a higher purchase price of $43,450.
According to US News & World Report, highlights of the XC60 included its “abundance of standard features” and roomy passenger and cargo areas. However, the magazine noted that both the 2023 Genesis GV70 and the 2023 BMW X3 offer similar handling, gas mileage, and other features with a higher reliability score.
Other vehicle brands on the US News & World Report list included Audi, Chrysler, Jeep, and Porsche.
How to Tell if Your Volvo is a Lemon
California lemon law protects the owners of unreliable or defective vehicles. If you purchased or leased your 2023 Volvo from a Volvo dealership or directly from the manufacturer and your warranty is still active, you may be protected by lemon law.
In California, your vehicle may qualify as a lemon if you have a defect or defects that remain unrepaired after a reasonable number of repair attempts. A reasonable number can be as few as only two attempts, but the more attempts the better qualified your vehicle is. Additionally, the defects must be of a kind that substantially impairs your vehicle’s use, value, or safety. Your vehicle may also qualify as a lemon in California if it has been in for service for more than 30 total days.
Compensation for lemon vehicles in California can include:
- A refund or a replacement vehicle, whichever you choose,
- Compensation for towing costs, bus fare, and other expenses you incurred due to vehicle breakdowns and
- Attorney’s fees, costs, and expenses, all paid by the manufacturer when you win or settle.
- Civil Penalties, or extra damages for the manufacturer’s willful failure to comply with the lemon law, can also be recovered for up to two times that amount of your other damages.
Ensure you receive the full compensation to which you are entitled: work with a dedicated expert California lemon law attorney. Your lawyer provides an essential counterbalance to the automakers’ attorneys, who will work to save the automaker money above all. Working with an attorney will cost you nothing out of pocket if you hire the best lemon law attorneys.
