Dodge Common Recalls
Dodge Common Recalls
Dodge has a long history of producing iconic vehicles, from muscle cars to the Dodge Ram pickup truck line. Now a brand of Stellantis, Dodge’s current line of vehicles includes cars like the Charger and Challenger, SUVs like the Hornet and Durango, and other offerings.
Today, many Dodge models are still on US roads, even if the model lines were recently discontinued. The Dodge Avenger, Dakota, Dart, Grand Cherokee, and several other models continue to be sold at dealerships and appear on the roads in California and other states.
All auto manufacturers occasionally issue recalls for defective vehicles. Dodge is no exception. Recent Dodge vehicle recalls reveal a long list of potential issues.
Common Problems With Dodge Vehicles That May Mean You Have a Lemon
Several recalls issued in the past few years address Dodge vehicles. These recalls cover a range of common issues.
If your Dodge vehicle experiences any of these issues, check to see whether your vehicle is included in a recall. If so, follow the recall instructions for safety and repair.
Airbag ruptures: 2018-2021 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 vehicles may suffer ruptures in the side curtain airbags. Sharp metal fragments can fly out, striking occupants in the vehicle and causing injury or death.
Brake malfunctions: Vehicles can start and shift out of park without the brakes applied, causing the vehicle to roll away and increasing the risk of a crash. The issue appears in certain 2018-2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango vehicles.
Electronic stability control issues: 2022 Dodge Durango and Ram 2500 and 3500 vehicles can suffer a software malfunction that causes the electronic stability control to deactivate. A second recall affecting 2019-2022 Ram 2500, 2021-2022 Dodge Durango, and 2019-2022 Ram 3500 vehicles can cause the electronic stability control warning system to fail even if the ESC itself engages, increasing the risk of a crash.
Fire risks. Loose connectors in 2023-2024 Alfa Romeo Tonale and 2023-2024 Dodge Hornet plug-in hybrid electric vehicles can cause electrical fires. Fire can occur whether the vehicle is driving or is parked.
Light problems. Some 2017-2018 Dodge Journey vehicles have defective reflectors in the side headlamps, which can make the headlights too dim to be relied upon safely.
Rear spoiler misalignment. A misaligned rear spoiler on 2021-2023 Dodge Durango vehicles can become damaged during liftgate use. It could also detach while driving, increasing the risk of a crash.
Tire pressure system malfunction. The tire pressure sensors can deactivate in some 2022 Dodge Challenger, Charger, and Chrysler 300 vehicles, preventing the driver from knowing when tire pressure is dangerously low.
In addition to addressing any recalls, talk to an experienced lemon law attorney. A lawyer can tell you more about how to protect your rights under California’s lemon law.
How Does California’s Lemon Law Protect Me If My Dodge Vehicle is a Lemon?
California lemon law protects consumers who have purchased a Dodge vehicle. The law applies if your Dodge vehicle has one or more defects that:
- Substantially impair your use, value, or safety of the vehicle, and
- Haven’t been repaired after a reasonable number of repair attempts.
A “reasonable number” of repair attempts can be as few as two attempts. California lemon law requires the automaker to buy back or replace your vehicle if the car qualifies as a lemon under the statute.
Serious defects in your Dodge vehicle pose a risk to you, your family, your friends, and anyone else who rides with you. These defects also increase the risk of an accident with others on the road.
When you bought your new Dodge vehicle, you expected it to be safe, reliable, and do the job any vehicle should do. If the automaker can’t seem to fix your car and won’t buy it back, it’s time to talk to an experienced lemon law attorney. The team at Wirtz Law APC fights to protect the rights of our clients under California lemon law.
