Audi Recall Lemon Law Attorneys

German vehicle maker Audi specializes in making luxury cars, SUVs, and other vehicles. Along with BMW and Mercedes-Benz, Audi is one of the world’s top luxury automotive brands.

From its founding in 1932 to today, Audi has undergone several changes, including mergers with several German automakers and other companies. Today, Audi AG is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group.

Those who buy luxury vehicles expect a luxury experience – including a safe, reliable vehicle with few to no automotive issues. Unfortunately, Audi vehicles have been the subject of several recent recalls.

Recent Audi Recalls

Volkswagen and Audi have recently issued several recalls of various vehicles. These recalls focus on fuel pump issues, airbag problems, and other defects that may make one’s Audi unsafe to drive.

Fuel Pump and Fire Risk

In February 2024, the Volkswagen Group issued a recall for several Audi vehicles, including:

  • The 2015-2020 Audi A3 sedan
  • The 2015-2019 Audie A3 convertible

The recall covers only front-wheel drive versions of the Audi A3 sedan and convertible. It also affects several Volkswagen models.

The recall focuses on a faulty suction jet pump seak inside the fuel tank. This seal can leak. Escaping fuel from the leak may ignite, resulting in a fire.

Symptoms of the issue include problems with refueling the Audi A3 vehicles. Owners might experience fuel spills, or the fuel pump might shut off before the tank is full. An owner might also notice the smell of gasoline coming from the vehicle. Some vehicles may have a fuel leak even if the owner doesn’t notice any symptoms, however.

The NHTSA recall campaign number is 24V110. Audi’s recall code is 20YF.

Airbag Issues

In early 2024, Audi recalled approximately 1,000 2023 and 2024 model-year vehicles for issues with the driver’s or passenger’s side airbag. Recalled vehicles include:

  • 2023-2024 Audi Q7
  • 2023-2024 Audi Q8
  • 2023-2024 Audi RS Q8
  • 2024 Audi SQ7
  • 2023-2024 Audi SQ8

The airbags were not installed correctly and do not comply with federal regulations, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

A separate recall for airbag issues affects the model year 2000-2001 Audi TT and model year 2000-2002 Audi A4 and S4. The airbag inflators may absorb moisture, which can cause the airbag to malfunction during a crash.

A third airbag recall focuses on the 2022-2023 Q4 e-tron SUV and Q4 e-tron Sportback vehicles. The head curtain airbag can deform the door seal when deploying, causing tears in the airbag that prevent it from protecting passengers.

Headlight Controls

The Audi Q4 E-tron and Q4 Sportback E-tron were recalled in mid-2024 for issues with incorrect headlight control module software. The software can cause the parking lights to operate incorrectly when the headlights are on or turn signals are activated. This may decrease the vehicle’s visibility and increase the risk of a crash.

Battery Recall

A recall issued in 2024 focuses on certain 2020-2022 E-Tron Sportback Quattro and 2019-2022 E-Tron Quattro vehicles. In these vehicles, high-voltage battery modules may overheat, increasing the risk of a fire.

Other Recent Audi Recalls

Additional Audi recalls include:

Charging Cables. 2022-2024 RS e-tron GT, e-tron GT, Q4 e-tron Sportback, Q4 e-tron, 2020-2021 Audi A8, 2019-2024 e-tron Quattro, 2020-2024 e-tron Sportback Quattro, Q5, and 2021-2022 A7 vehicles have been recalled because the outlet or charging cable can overheat during charging, increasing the risk of a fire.

Control Module. 2020-2022 Audi S7, S6 Sedan, A6 Allroad, 2021-2022 RS7, RS6 Avant, 2019-2022 A7, and A6 Sedan vehicles have been recalled because a liquid spill in the rear seat may penetrate the car’s gateway control module, causing the module to shut down. If the module shuts down, engine power may suddenly decrease, increasing the risk of a crash.

Engine Connecting Rod Bearings. Certain 2021-2023 Audi Q5 Sportback vehicles have been recalled because the engine connecting rod bearings can be damaged, causing engine failure or an oil leak. This recall also affects certain Volkswagen and Atlas vehicles.

Rearview Cameras. RS5 Coupe, Q8, Q7, Q5 Sportback, S4 Sedan, Q5, A7, A6, A6 Allroad, A5 Sportback, A5 Coupe, 2021 Audi A8, RS7, RS6 Avant, RS5 Sportback, A5 Cabrioleet, SQ7, S5 Cabriolet, E-Tron Quattro, A4 Sedan, A4 Allroad, E-Tron Sportback Quattro, SQ8, SQ5 Sportback, SQ5, S8, S7, S6 Sedan, S5 Sportback, S5 Coupe, 2022 E-Tron GT, and 2021-2022 RSQ8 vehicles have been recalled for issues with the rearview camera’s software, which can cause the rearview camera to fail to display.

Audi issued the recall in early 2024 but has not yet made a remedy available. The company expects to have a remedy available by fall 2024. Audi plans to contact vehicle owners once the fix is ready.
