Mr.
Wirtz received his
Bachelor of Arts
in History from Knox
College (B.S., 1984)
and his Juris Doctorate
from the University
of San Diego (J.D.,
1987). Mr.
Wirtz is a member
of the state bars
in California and
New Mexico and is
licensed in the United
States District Courts
for the Southern,
Central, Eastern,
and Northern Districts
of California, and
the District of New
Mexico. Mr.
Wirtz has also been
admitted on a case-by-case
basis in the state
courts of Hawaii,
Nevada, and Arizona,
as well as the United
States Bankruptcy
Court for Arizona,
and the United States
District Courts for
the District of Nevada
and the Eastern District
of New York. He
is a member of the
Labor and Employment
Law Section and the
Litigation Section
of the California
State Bar.
Locally,
Mr. Wirtz has been
an active member
of the San Diego
County Bar Association
since 1988, where
he has been a member
of the Continuing
Legal Education Committee
and is a member of
the Client Relations
Committee. Mr.
Wirtz joined the
newly formed Carmel
Valley Bar Association
in 2003, where he
sits on the Executive
Committee and the
Continuing Legal
Education Subcommittee. He
has also been a member
of the San Diego
Inn of Court, the
San Diego Trial Lawyers,
and the Los Angeles
County Bar Association.
Mr.
Wirtz represents
both plaintiffs and
defendants in state,
federal, and bankruptcy
courts. His
practice emphasizes
complex civil litigation
through jury trials,
arbitrations, settlement
conferences, mediations,
and appeals in the
practice areas of business, insurance, employment,
and real
estate.
Prior
to forming his current
partnership in 2002,
Mr. Wirtz performed
out-sourced “general
counsel” services
to businesses and
entrepreneurs, concerning
transactions and
disputes involving
complex business,
employment,
and real
estate matters.
He advised, counseled
and represented senior
executives concerning
risk management,
labor law compliance,
employee issues,
and business contracts.
